Remove a Contact from Automated Messages

💡 Contacts will be automatically removed (or not) from nurture sequences and appointment reminder automation based on certain scenarios...such as whether they respond to automated messages, manual messages, or have appointments canceled/rescheduled. Sometimes, you may need to manually remove contacts from active workflows so they don't get irrelevant texts.

Lead Nurture Automation

Contacts will be removed automatically from nurture messages when:

  1. They reply to an automated message (they respond directly to one of the automated nurture texts or emails)
  2. An appointment is booked for them in a GMM calendar *
      • If you created your own calendar or additional calendar, this may not be set up for those calendars
  3. They reply STOP

Contacts will NOT be automatically removed from nurture messages when:

  1. They reply to a manual message from you (i.e. you send a text outside of the automated messages and the contact responds to your text)
  2. A phone call conversation happens (i.e. you call them, they pick up and you guys talk)

Appointment Reminder Campaigns

Contacts will be removed automatically from appointment reminders when:

  1. Their appointment is canceled or deleted (das it!)

Contacts will NOT be removed automatically from appointment reminders when:

  1. They reply to an automated message (i.e. they reply to one of the automated reminders that they can't come or have to reschedule)
  2. They reply to a manual message (i.e. you text them to confirm their appointment and they respond to your message)

Misc. or Custom Workflows

If you have a custom workflow or sequence (i.e. new member emails or a campaign that GMM did not create) contacts being removed automatically may or may not happen based on your settings

If you have a custom workflow and want certain things (i.e. stopping on response or stopping after a tag is removed or added) to cause a contact to be removed from that workflow automatically, please send a request to the Tech Team if you need help setting this up

How to Manually Remove Contacts from Automated Messages

  1. Go to their Contact Page
  2. Scroll down the left hand side to Campaigns/Workflows (located under Tags)
  3. Under Active, if they are in an automation, you will see it there (*P.S: 'Workflow' and 'Automation' are synonymous)

  1. The active workflow sending the message should highlighted in blue and have an X icon to the right of it ➝ Click the X icon to remove them

  1. Click OK

Can I just pause the nurture?

It is not possible to "pause" nurture (i.e. temporarily stop the messages and resume where they left off at a later time).

If a contact is removed from nurture and you would like them to receive nurture again, they would need to start over with the same messages unless an additional, custom nurture sequence is created.

Why didn't nurture stop after they responded to the first message?

If you have a version of Nurture with Auto-Responses, a contact will not be removed if they respond to the FIRST message, if they respond to the first message they will receive an automated response.

Responding to the automated response or any of the following message will result in removal from nurture automatically.
